While the "American Idol" fever is still looming, FOX announces several dates when aspiring singers can have a try out to be the next Idol. The auditions for season 9 will begin as early as two weeks from now, being kicked off on Sunday, June 14 at Boston's Gillette Stadium.

The auditions will also be held in six other cities across America but only five dates and venues have been announced. Two auditions in Chicago and Dallas are still to be determined and expected to be announced by the time the first audition begins. The ninth season itself is slated to air in January 2010.

Participants are required to have a U.S. working permit and are within the age of 16 to 28 as of June 12, 2009. In other words, eligible ones must be born between July 13, 1980 to June 12, 1993.

Beside viewing the first few hopefuls, the first day audition in Boston will also determine which judges return for the new season since all of the in-contract judges are expected to be present in each audition.

It was a hot topic back when season 8 was running, that the addition of Kara DioGuardi was not an effective move because there were several overtimes as a result of lengthy comments from the judges. But it is not necessarily the axing of Kara as rumor has it, Paula Abdul was also potentially leaving the show.
