Farrah Fawcett Wishes She Could Fight Cancer in Private

Becoming the target of media headlines due to her battle with anal cancer, Farrah Fawcett says she actually hopes to fight the disease in private.

AceShowbiz - "It's much easier to go through something and deal with it without being under a microscope," Farrah Fawcett opened up about her cancer battle to Los Angeles Times in an interview held in August 2008, the script of which has just been made public on the newspaper's site on Monday, May 11. "It was stressful. I was terrified of getting the chemo. It's not pleasant. And the radiation is not pleasant. People call, 'How are you?' 'How do you feel?' 'We're praying for you.' 'Do you still have your hair?' 'What do you feel like?' When every single call is that kind of call ... It's all you talk about. It's all-consuming. Then your quality of life is never the same."

False reports run by the media make it harder for Farrah to cope, the actress herself has admitted. Making a reference to 2006 National Enquirer cover that declared: "Farrah Begs: 'Let Me Die'", she responded, "God, I would never say something like that." The ailing actress went on stating, "To think that people who did look up to me and felt positive because I was going through it too and yet I was strong ... it just negated all that."

Speaking of her very public battle with anal cancer, Farrah put the blame on UCLA for allowing its staff to have access to her private medical records which were leaked. "I actually kept saying for months and months and months, 'This is coming from [UCLA]," she insisted. "I was never more sure of anything in my life." Despite all the bad things, she told Los Angeles Times, "I'm holding onto the hope that there is some reason that I got cancer and there is something -- that may not be very clear to me right now -- but that I will do."
