A two-minute clip of Focus Features animated movie "9" has been debuted via MTV. Displaying what Elijah Wood's 9 has to battle with in the film, the video footage opens with a capture of a mechanical monster attempting to steal a sapient rag doll's soul. As the monster ties the rag doll, 9 and other dolls come to the rescue.

Ignoring the danger, they launch attack on the monster to release the captured doll. However, the rescue attempt soon turns into disaster. The monster gets its hands on Jennifer Connelly's 7 and makes its slithering escape. Although at one point 9 manages to grab a hold on the monster's broken tail, he has to see the monster moves away with 7 in its hand after he is slammed into what seems to be a giant book.

A feature-length adaptation of Shane Acker's short film of the same name, "9" follows a sapient rag doll who finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. Discovering a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction, he convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.

The animation feature film features the voices of Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly, Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau and Crispin Glover. Set to debut in U.S. theaters on September 9, it is directed by Shane Acker, who also serves as the film's co-scribbler, and produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov.
