Jon Favreau, From 'Iron Man 2' to 'The Avengers'
Movie

Marvel Studios have been rumored to delay the release of 'The Avengers' so that Jon Favreau, the chosen director of 'Iron Man 2', could helm the project.

AceShowbiz - "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2" director, Jon Favreau, could be the man behind the lens for "The Avengers". Soon after Marvel Studios announced that they have pushed back some of their upcoming movies' release date, Ain't It Cool News has come up with a scoop that the delay was made so that it is possible for Favreau to helm the project.

"Everybody here loves the guy and he wants to do it, but it would have been impossible for him to do before the date change given his Iron Man 2 commitments," so read the report. "Also partly the reason why he agreed to do the Stark sequel on such an accelerated schedule was so he could get given first dibs on this. It would still be a punishing schedule for him, so hes not firmly confirmed yet, but he is certainly the presumptive director at this point."

Previously, Favreau has admitted that he would love to direct "Avengers", but the "Iron Man 2" schedule prevents him to do so. "I would love to. Clearly I have stated that The Avengers would be fun," he said. "But I look at their release schedule and they have announced Iron Man 2? for 2010 and then Avengers for 2011. I know from experience there is no way I could. I don't know what they have in mind, but there is no way that The Avengers could be done in a year. Either they are thinking about somebody else doing it or they have something up their sleeve that I don't know."

"The Avengers" will bring together the super hero team of Marvel Comics characters, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk and others, to the big screen for the first time ever. In it, the Earth's mightiest heroes will have to work together to battle the biggest foe they've ever faced. Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson have all been confirmed to star in this film which is now set for May 4, 2012 U.S. release.
