Chris Brown is no longer among the nominees for 2009 Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards as he has decided to withdraw his name from the awards' ballot.

AceShowbiz - Chris Brown has withdrawn from the nominations of 2009 Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards. "We are confirming that Chris Brown has decided to withdraw his nominations from the Kids' Choice Awards," so a statement released by Nickelodeon revealed. "We agree with and respect his decision, and are looking forward to presenting a great event for our audience."

Chris' representative says that his decision is made due to "the controversy surrounding the incident last month [altercation with Rihanna]." The representative explains, "Chris very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honor they have paid him in the way of nominations for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song. Unfortunately, [the controversy] has shifted the focus from the music to whether he should be allowed to be among those nominated."

"While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time," the representative continues. "Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so."

Earlier on Tuesday, March 10, more than 5,200 parents have signed an online petition asking Chris Brown and Rihanna to be removed from the nominations list of 2009 Kids' Choice Awards. Responding to the protest, Nickelodeon, at that time, refused to take down Chris' name and insisted that Chris is nominated "based on his body of work as a performer" and "the kids who vote will ultimately decide who wins in the category."
