'High School Musical' will be one of the inspirations behind six half-hour shows that MTV develop for its future program.

MTV is looking forward to add comedy to its pile, and one of its target is "High School Musical". The music network is gearing up on a project called "Private High Musical" which is inspired by the popular Disney production and based on an online series that produced raunchy versions of high school shows.

"I've always been an avid musical fan," creator Taryn Southern said, "and when Disney's 'High School Musical' became this big phenomenon, I thought it was funny that nobody ever did a musical that told how high school really was."

Other four pilots and an animated series that will span half an hour each, are on the pipeline. The animated series is called "DJ and the Fro", telling the story of two office workers who swap viral videos in the middle of their busy job. "Long Distance Relationship" meanwhile, is based on a Web series about a couple who go to separate colleges and communicate with webcam.

The other three are "Popzilla" which lampoons celebrity news, "Hard Times" about a geek improving his social status in high school, and "Who's Your Daddy?" which is about adopted multicultural children of a celebrity couple.

"We're going to apply the same tenets of creativity and genre-busting to scripted comedy that 'Laguna Beach' used to make over the documentary," MTV head of programing Tony DiSanto said. "It makes sense as a progression for us when a lot of our shows like 'Run's House' and 'The Hills' look scripted to start going forward with actual scripted shows."

No information yet on when these pilots will air.
