After signing a deal with Hilary Duff for a new sitcom series, NBC network has been reported to sign a deal with Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller to set up another new project for early 2009 launching. The network has announced that Lythgoe from "So You Think You Can Dance?" and Fuller from "American Idol" will serve as the executive producers for this new reality show which has a theme of dancing competition.
NBC has prepared two tentative titles for this new dance competition show, "Superstar Dancers of the World" and "Dance Masters of the World". It informs further that the show will feature professional dancers from eight different countries, U.S., India, Ireland, Australia, Argentina, Russia, China and South Africa, performing different styles. Plus, Michael Flatley, the guest judge of "Dancing with the Stars", will serve as the host of the new show.
Regarding the new project, NBC's executive alternative programming, Craig Plestis, says "We've always wanted to be in the dance business, but the question was how to be unique and different." He adds, "Our show makes every other dance show seem like amateur hour. We got the best of the best. Americans will be blown away when they see what real professionals can do."
Meanwhile, Lythgoe gives his statement, saying "It's the 'Olympic Games of dance', everybody gets it right away." He also comments, "Dancing has taken off in this country, the Olympics took off in this country; here we're bringing them both together. It's not just celebrities and their partners trying to dance or young people attempting to be great dancers. These are the great dancers."
Furthermore, NBC has picked up the new show for nine hours order with four two-hour episodes and a one-hour finale. NBC details that on every episode, the team from each country will present two dance soloists, a duet and a group, which will be examined by judges from each participating country.
