Green Day Begin Recording New Album in January

Green Day have felt compelled on gearing up the recording that will follow up their 'American Idiot' success.

Green Day's latest album 'American Idiot' (2004) debuted at #1 on Billboard Hot 200 chart and went on certified 5 times platinum in the following years. In January next year, the band will be back in the studio to follow it up with a brand new album.

The studio work will polish the 45 raw songs they mentioned earlier, which was composed mostly by piano instead of guitars. No release date has been specified but the theme has been hinted to be quite off from American Idiot's.

"We've been doing this for almost 20 years now. You want to make sure you're being honest with yourself," frontman Billie Joe Armstrong explained in October. "I also have to ask myself 'what's real out there?' Right now, it seems stagnant."

Musicnews.com also reported that their site will not bring up the album's theme as usual, but will come up with a generic Green Day theme.
