Making a change on the screenplay of its new horror feature "Come Closer", Miramax has hired "30 Days of Night" scribe Brian Nelson to do a rewrite on the material New York native Tristine Skyler initially worked on, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on Sara Gran's 2003 novel, pic will take moviegoers into the mind of a woman experiencing bizarre situations that might not be happening and violent impulses that might be all too real. Nelson reportedly has signed on to carry out his task for the film before the start of the WGA strike.

Set to direct is Carter Smith with Likely Story founder Anthony Bregman serving as producer. Meanwhile Miramax VP production and development David Greenbaum will shepherd the movie for the studio under president of production Keri Putnam.

"The combination of Brian Nelson and Carter Smith will make for a complex and terrifying film, and Miramax is very adept at creating and marketing sophisticated filmmaking," Bregman remarked.

Project was initially developed by Dimension Pictures with Hossein Amin to work on the screenplay, but got halted when Weinstein Brothers left Disney with Dimension in 2005. It was not until Greenbaum saw Smith's 2006 Sundance Film Festival-winning short "Bugcrush" that it finally got revived.
