A car enthusiast web site has learned from its sources that Universal Pictures is working on a fourth installment of "The Fast and the Furious" series for a summer 2008 release.

AceShowbiz - Strong speculations are buzzing around now that a fourth chapter of "The Fast and the Furious" franchise is on the way to be brought to the big screen.

A car enthusiast web site, Edmunds, reveals in its Inside Line page that it has obtained scoop from sources close to the production of three previous installments informing the project is currently "in development" at Universal Pictures though production start date is unclear and no director attached for now.

Words have it that this next chapter will reunite many characters from the first three, including those played by Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, and Lucas Black with story revolving around automotive mayhem of the most intense sort which this time will be set in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

More to say, the site further revealed expectations are high to have 1970 Dodge Charger from the original film back to the flick with other vehicles like the new Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Opala as well as 1987 Buick GNX to be also featured. Pic is guessed to come up in theaters in summer 2008, but since no official statement released from Universal yet, let's consider all of this with a grain of salt for now.
