"Meet the Parents" second unit director Marco Schnabel will make his directorial debut in Paramount Pictures' comedy "The Love Guru."

AceShowbiz -

Embracing his first feature directorial debut, Marco Schnabel has signed on to helm self-help comedy "The Love Guru" for Paramount Pictures, Variety has reported.

Starring Mike Myers as the title character, the flick follows the advice-dispensing Guru as he is called to solve a couple's romantic troubles. Myers, who co-wrote the script with Graham Gordy, is said to have worked at crafting the character at several theaters in Manhattan.

Production is scheduled to start in August this year for a planned June 2008 release with Mike De Luca producing via his Mike De Luca Productions alongside Myers.

Schnabel turns out to be no stranger to Myers as he has been a protege of "Austin Powers" director Jay Roach, serving as a crew member on the first two installments on the franchise then becoming second unit director in "Austin Powers in Goldmember." In addition, he also assumed the latter position in Roach's other hit movies, "Meet the Parents" and its sequel "Meet the Fockers."
