Lionsgate is partnering with the Firm to make a movie based on Thomas Kinkade's painting "The Christmas Cottage."

Partnering with the Firm, Lionsgate is set to make a dramatic feature entitled “The Christmas Cottage” which is aimed for a holiday season release.

Based on Thomas Kinkade's painting of the same name, the project will be partly biographical as it describes how Kinkade was motivated to begin his career as an artist upon discovering his mother was in danger of losing the family home. It is said that the flick is part of an overall film-TV producing deal that Lionsgate made with Kinkade.

Filming is scheduled to begin next month in Vancouver , British Columbia , Canada under Kinkade's Birch Grove Films and Stirling Media banner. Michael Campus is onboard to helm from Ken LaZebnick’s script with Kinkade and his wife, Nanette, also Julie Yorn producing and Marc C. Gordon co-executive producing.
