Joining the burgeoning list of movies picked up by film companies for distribution, two more titles screened at this year's Sundance Film Festival, "The Ten" and "King of California", have been reported to also land deals to get their way in commercial theaters.

Presenting ten stories that each is inspired by one of the Ten Commandments, "Ten" is secured by ThinkFilm with a plan for an August theatrical release in North America. The studio is said to partner on the $4.5 million deal with City Lights Home Entertainment which will handle DVD and digital distribution of the flick.

"We thought it was a hilarious, funny, movie, and that if we brought it to an audience with brains and style, it would have the ability to do better than (ThinkFilm's) 'The Aristocrats' or 'Strangers with Candy'," head of ThinkFilm's U.S. theatrical operations Mark Urman commented.

Meanwhile, "California", the first feature directorial effort from Mike Cahill, is going to First Look Pictures which reportedly took the dark comedy at a tidy cost of $3 million. A production of Nu Image Films, the flick sees Michael Douglas as an unstable father who tries to convince his daughter that there is Spanish gold buried somewhere under suburbia.
