Forming a joint venture with Imagine Entertainment, Universal Pictures has successfully picked up the rights to bring out "The Emperor's Children" to the big screen, Variety has reported.

Based on Claire Messud's novel of the same title, the project is likely to be a comedy of manners which centers on three Brown University-educated students who are expected to do something important yet still struggling to fulfill the promise as they turn thirty years old.

Names for the cast have not yet been attached, but it is confirmed that Imagine's Brian Grazer will produce while Ron Howard is reported to have an eye to seat as the film's director.
