Lionsgate is aiming to develop a movie about fishing world entitled "The Bass Master."

AceShowbiz -

Developing what looks like to be the equal competitor to "Fishing on the Edge", Lionsgate is about to make a big screen feature titled "The Bass Master" from a spec script it has successfully purchased, Variety has learned.

Intended to be a comedy set in the world of competitive bass fishing, the project has already had Tab Murphy and Devin Maurer to both pen the script with Todd Garner seating as the producer. No words yet on either cast lineup or production details so far.

Lionsgate, a Vancouver-based entertainment company, was formed in 1976 and named after the bridge of the same name that crosses the narrows of Burrard Inlet in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. For 2007, the company is slated to release no less than seven films, including "Pride", "Good Luck Chuck", and "Why Did I Get Married?."
