Joseph Fiennes is back to period piece. Variety has reported that the striking actor is finally positive to portray the title role in "Vivaldi", a biopic of the eccentric priest and Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi.

Along with the other cast that includes Lena Headey, Malcolm McDowell, and Jacqueline Bisset, Fiennes will come under direction of Boris Damast who also serves as producer via his indie company Mechaniks. Meanwhile, script is entrusted into the hand of journalist Steven Freedman with Andrea Kikot co-producing.

As for the story, the picture will depict the life of the composer as a young priest assigned to teach music to the abandoned, illegitimate daughters of Venice's courtesans. Through his bond with the girls, he later delightfully manages to land a concert of his own music before the pope.

Fiennes, best known for his performance in John Madden's 1998 film work of "Shakespeare in Love", initially built his acting career through stage productions before jumping into screen features. His next big screen project, "Running with Scissors" in which he stars alongside Annette Bening and Alec Baldwin, among others, will open in theaters this month on date 20.
