Moving on to bring out "American Girl" to the surface, Walden Media has hired Ann Peacock to pen the script of the project, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed. The assignment therefore is the second work Peacock will carry out for Walden as she previously has adapted the screenplay of "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" based on C.S. Lewis' book of the same title.

For the film, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Marisa Yeres and Stephanie Langhoff are producing through Goldsmith-Thomas Productions in association with Julia Roberts' Red Om Films.

American Girl is actually a popular line of historically accurate dolls and books for girls. Formerly named Pleasant Company, it is a subsidiary of Mattel, the largest town company based on revenue in USA. Among the dolls that have been produced, the one named Kit Kittredge will be the focus of the film's story.

UPDATE 05/12/2007: Movie title changed from "American Girl" to "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery".
