Movie

Universal Pictures has hired Michael Brandt and Derek Haas to pen the scripts of "Deceit."

AceShowbiz -

In its effort to bring up "Deceit" to the surface, Universal Pictures has assigned screenwriter duo Michael Brandt and Derek Haas to pen the film's script with Lorenzo Di Bonaventura to produce, so Variety has revealed.

Brandt and Haas previously have teamed up together in building the story of "2 Fast 2 Furious" (2003) also for Universal. Their next writing collaborations include "Wanted (2006)", "The Courier", "3:10 to Yuma", and "Countdown" among others.

Based on a novel of the same title written by James Siegel, the project is intended to follow the book's story of a newspaper reporter busted for fabricating stories and later faces a dark conspiracy stemming from government radiation testing in the 1950s when he works for a small-town paper. The book itself is scheduled to be put on sale by August 9.
