Opera star Luciano Pavarotti has been forced to postpone five concerts on his worldwide farewell tour, "Pavarotti Worldwide Farewell Tour", because of complications from back surgery.

Four performances in the Canadian cities of Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, and in Washington in the US have been delayed until October.

Terri Robson, Pavarotti's manager, said: "Luciano apologizes to his many disappointed fans for having to reschedule these concert". Tickets from the postponed dates will be valid for the October shows.

As of Pavarotti, he by now on stays in New York to continue with intensive physical therapy as his manager revealed "Happily, he is now well on his way to recovery and very much looks forward to continue celebrating his career with the Pavarotti Worldwide Farewell Tour."
