A summer of freedom and hormones turns deadly in this slasher film that wears its influences on its blood-soaked sleeve. At Camp Miasma, a group of teenagers, including the rebellious Jenna Ortega and the anxious Jacob Elordi, arrive expecting the usual mix of campfire stories and awkward hookups. Instead, they find themselves trapped in a remote wilderness where a mysterious killer begins picking them off one by one, their deaths tied to a dark secret buried in the camp’s history. The central conflict pits their desire for connection and rebellion against the primal fight for survival, as they must unravel the clues left behind before the body count rises. Blending dark humor with genuine scares, the film captures the chaotic, horny energy of youth clashing with the grim reality of mortality. Florence Pugh delivers a standout performance as a camp counselor whose own troubled past makes her both a suspect and a reluctant leader. With its retro aesthetic and clever subversion of genre tropes, this is a thrilling, messy, and surprisingly thoughtful meditation on growing up in a world that seems determined to destroy you.
