On New Year's Eve, while the rest of the city sleeps, four thieves wearing tuxedos enter the world-famous Pierre Hotel in New York City and walk out with millions in cash, jewels and bonds stolen from the hotel safety deposit boxes. Eddie and Vic, petty criminals most of their lives, have the one big idea that will change their lives forever, before Eddie plans to go straight and leave town with his girlfriend. Assembling a team of neighborhood pals and other career criminals with dubious skills, Eddie and Vic manage to pull off the theft and are miles away when the robbery is noticed and the police start surrounding the hotel.
