"My Golden Days" is the story of Paul, an anthropologist preparing to leave Tajikistan. Reflecting on his life, he has a series of flashbacks ranging from his childhood in Roubaix to his mother's attacks of madness and his father's alienating depression. Through all of his reawakening memories, Paul is consistently reminded of Esther, the beautiful, rude, haughty soul and love of his life.
