In a remote, top-secret laboratory, a corporate risk-management consultant, Lee Weathers (Kate Mara), arrives to evaluate a dangerous experiment. The subject is Morgan (Anya Taylor-Joy), a synthetic human who has displayed shocking and violent behavior despite being only five years old. Created and raised by a team of brilliant scientists, including Dr. Simon Ziegler (Toby Jones) and Dr. Lui Cheng (Michelle Yeoh), Morgan has formed deep bonds with her caregivers, who see her more as a gifted child than a corporate asset. Lee’s cold, by-the-book investigation clashes with the protective environment, escalating tensions as she interviews the staff, including conflicted behaviorist Amy (Rose Leslie) and the project’s pragmatic overseer, Dr. Grieff (Jennifer Jason Leigh). When a brutally candid psychiatrist (Paul Giamatti) is brought in to assess Morgan, the session triggers a catastrophic chain of events, forcing everyone to confront the true nature of their creation. This sleek sci-fi thriller from director Luke Scott masterfully builds an atmosphere of creeping dread, posing unsettling questions about humanity, ethics, and the terrifying potential of playing god.
