this suspense in this action film is intended to fill viewers with dread -- and it works: It's dreadful; "Dangerous" is a perfect storm of bad writing, bad acting, and bad directing. It's reckless entertainment; And it's a total celebration of violence
the movie is not always great, but it has enough fun with the idea to make us keep rooting for it; the script, hides some quirky twists and turns of phrase in its nasty, bloody mechanics; Hackl remains adept at gross torture and keeping a mystery moving
Eastwood is convincing as a killer insane enough to have Mel Gibson as his shrink, the movie less so; "Dangerous" is a shambles of a movie, with a plot so contrived yet abstract that you spend each scene asking yourself how it's all supposed to add up
a violent and wildly implausible and unintentionally funny thriller; The star's supporting turn as an incompetent therapist makes the bad thriller worse
