Synopsis

The film centers on Desmond Doss, the first conscientious objector American to win the Congressional Medal of Honor. For those unaware, a conscientious objector is one who refuses the right to perform military service on the grounds of freedom of thought, conscience, or religion. Doss refused to kill or even carry a weapon into combat during World War II, though he saved the lives of 75 men at the Battle of Okinawa.
