Synopsis

In this gently absurdist comedy, Gonzalo Tomayo finds himself navigating the baffling bureaucracy of the Catholic Church when he attempts to formally renounce his faith. Tomayo soon discovers that leaving the church is much easier said than done.

In this coming-of-age satire told with a gentle nod to the Cohen Brother's sensibility, The Apostate touches meaningfully on the crisis within the Catholic Church; a crisis that centers on the conflict between tradition and modernity.
