The Favourite (2018) is a British comedy-drama film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz. The film is set in early 18th century England and tells the story of Queen Anne, a frail and sickly woman who is controlled by her close friend and advisor, Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough. When a new servant, Abigail Masham, arrives at court, she quickly becomes Anne's favorite and a rival to Sarah. The Favourite was a critical and commercial success, winning ten BAFTA Awards, including Best Film, and being nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
