Venom (2018) is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is intended to be the first film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe. Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner, Kelly Marcel, and Will Beall, the film stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock / Venom, alongside Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott. In the film, Brock, a journalist, investigates the Life Foundation, a company that is experimenting on humans with an alien symbiote. When Brock comes into contact with one of the symbiotes, it bonds with him, giving him superhuman abilities but also a violent and unstable personality.
