Pacific Rim Uprising, the sequel to the 2013 film Pacific Rim, is an upcoming American science fiction action film directed by Steven S. DeKnight and written by Travis Beacham, Kira Snyder, Emily Carmichael, John Boyega, and DeKnight. The film stars Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian, Adria Arjona, Rob Kazinsky, and Charlie Day. The film is a co-production between Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures, and will be distributed by Universal Pictures. The film is scheduled to be released on March 23, 2018.
A television spot for the film, titled "Obsidian Fury Blocks Jaeger Punch," was released on February 27, 2018. The spot features footage of the Jaeger Obsidian Fury fighting Kaiju. The spot also features a voiceover from Boyega, who says, "We're not going to let them destroy our world."
