Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the sequel to 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy and the 15th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by James Gunn, who also wrote the screenplay with Nicole Perlman. The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, and Kurt Russell. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the Guardians travel through the cosmos and encounter a race of powerful beings known as the Sovereign, who hire them to protect their valuable batteries. However, when the Guardians learn that the Sovereign are enslaving children, they turn against them and must fight for their freedom.
