"War for the Planet of the Apes" is an upcoming American science fiction film directed by Matt Reeves and written by Mark Bomback and Reeves. It is the third installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot series, following Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014). The film stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, and Karin Konoval. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 14, 2017, by 20th Century Fox.
The film follows Caesar (Serkis) and his apes as they are forced into a conflict with an army of humans led by the Colonel (Harrelson). The two sides must fight for their survival as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance.
