In the upcoming episode 1.22 of Madam Secretary, entitled "The Long Game," Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) travels to Syria to try to negotiate a peace treaty between the Syrian government and the rebels. She is accompanied by her chief of staff, Jay Whitman (Sebastian Arcelus), and her press secretary, Stevie Atkins (Wallis Currie-Wood). The trio face a number of challenges, including a sniper attack and a hostage situation. Meanwhile, back in Washington, D.C., Secretary of State Russell Jackson (Tim Daly) and National Security Adviser Nadine Tolliver (Bebe Neuwirth) work to keep the peace process on track.
