Madam Secretary is an American political drama television series created by Barbara Hall, which premiered on CBS on September 21, 2014. The series follows Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni), a former CIA analyst who is appointed as the United States Secretary of State after the death of her predecessor. In this preview for the 18th episode of the first season, titled "Standoff", Elizabeth and her team are faced with a hostage situation in which a group of American tourists are being held captive by terrorists.
