It's Glenn's (Mark McKinney) favorite day of the year: Color Wars, where Cloud 9's employees break into two teams, red and gold, and compete to see who can sell more stuff. The only problem? None of the employees share Glenn's enthusiasm for the contest - until Amy (America Ferrera) learns each member of the winning team will receive $100. In need of the extra money, Amy fills in her gold teammates and they get to selling. But when Garrett (Colton Dunn) catches Amy eyeing the progress board a little too seriously, he realizes something is amiss. Employing Mateo (Nico Santos) to find out the truth, Garrett and the red team soon learn cash is on the line and the contest truly begins.
Conning someone into buying things he or she doesn't need makes Jonah (Ben Feldman) uncomfortable, but after being scolded by Amy, he puts his moral compass aside and convinces a customer to purchase an expensive barbecue grill and high-tech camera. Unfortunately, the customer turns out to be Amy's husband. When Amy spots her husband spending money they don't have, she quickly blows up at him, giving Jonah unintentional insight into her marriage. Though in the end the gold team comes out on top, the day doesn't end as well as Amy would've hoped.
