Damien Russ, a classic legendary racer, and the last person to see Speed Racer before his disappearance, visits the school to promote a drink he is sponsoring. Professor Winn uncharacteristically shows disdain toward Russ, as her past connection with Speed Sr. is revealed. Speed and his friends suspect Damian of trying to get control of the Mach 6 and kill Speed, but his business partner wants to destroy the Mach 6.
