Luanne feels left out when all of Lucky's attention is directed toward stumping a rare 48 inch stump of burled walnut and not her. Doubling her pain is the fact that she is doing all the high school kids' hair for prom and she never went to her prom. When Kevin, a 15 year old high school senior, asks Luanne to prom, Lucky gets jealous and tells her she can't go. However, as Lucky pays less and less attention to Luanne on his quest for the rare stump, she decides to go to prom with the kid. Because his friends do not have honed stumping skills, Lucky has enlisted the help of Hank and the guys for this adventure. Lucky's friends however see that Luanne is going to prom with Kevin and start to threaten him. Just as Lucky, Hank, and the guys move mountains for this incredible stump, Lucky realizes that Luanne is more important than the stump and he heads back to town for her. Just as Kevin is being attacked by Lucky's friends at prom, Lucky shows up to stop the trouble and tell Luanne that she is the most important thing in his life and blood.
