Gabriel and Cybercom are called in to investigate when a handful of the most prominent microbiotic scientists are killed after being infected by malicious nanites - microscopic robots programmed to attack their internal organs. Gabriel uses his chip to determine that all of the victims received a mysterious yellow box containing the inactive nanites, which infected them quickly and then were activated remotely via cell phone. He also locates one final unopened box in the possession of Bryce Taylor, one of Cassidy's former students. Gabriel and Riley track Taylor down and secure the box, but are shocked when Cassidy is infected with the nanites and Taylor turns out to be the man responsible for the tiny murderous robots. Gabriel devises a risky plan to trick the nanites into thinking they've killed Cassidy by inducing his clinical death, and the team manages to resuscitate him after the nanites shut down.
