Hell's Kitchen Episode 6.05 12 Chefs Compete

After another brutal elimination, the chefs silently walk back to the dorms. Tek looks back on the last dinner service and feels hopeful she can do better. Dave, struggling with daily activities, finds life with a broken arm an increasing disadvantage.

The next morning the Red and Blue Teams are introduced to Lytasha James, wife of Staff Sergeant Otis James of the United States Marine Core. Staff Sergeant James has just flown in from active duty, and the next Hell's Kitchen dinner service will be a Welcome Home Surprise Party in his honor. The challenge will be for both teams to design and cook a menu of one appetizer and two entrees. The team that cooks the dishes Lytasha likes most will win the challenge, and those dishes will become the menu for the Welcome Home Dinner Service.

Chef Ramsay picks Robert and Suzanne to interview Lytasha on behalf of their teams. Robert brings the information back to the kitchen and happily collaborates with his teammates on their menu. Suzanne, however, chooses to become the leader and chooses the dishes for the team without any input.

At judgment time, in round one, Lytasha chooses the Red Team's Caesar salad with prawns over the Blue Team's bouillabaisse. But in round two, Lytasha chooses the Blue Team's entree of fried catfish with collard greens, and mac and cheese, "hands down". With the score tied at one to one, it is up to team leaders Rob and Suzanne to present their final entrees. Robert's strategy pays off and his entree of surf 'n turf is chosen, winning the challenge for the Blue Team. The men are rewarded by becoming fighter pilots for the day, while the women are punished by having to redecorate all of Hell's Kitchen for the Welcome Home Surprise Party, under the impeccable direction of a very special guest, Chef Ramsay's wife, Tana.

The next morning, the girls are determined to win the dinner service, but the Blue Team is less than helpful in sharing their recipes. Time runs out and the guests arrive. Finally, Staff Sergeant James is ushered in, everyone screams "Welcome Home!" and the party begins. Chef Ramsay gives the Sergeant a warm personal greeting, and reveals yet another surprise: his mother!

The orders are in and both kitchens burst into a flurry of action -- in the Red kitchen, Sabrina falters on appetizers, and to the fury of Chef Ramsay, sends a stone-cold stuffed mushroom to the pass. The first appetizers finally leave the Red kitchen, but the Blue Team pushes further and further ahead and begin to send out entrees. Neither team is prepared for the volume of surf 'n turf orders, and Jim is instantly slammed on the meat station, but with the help of Kevin, Jim and the rest of the Blue kitchen are able to maintain a steady stream of entrees.

In the Red kitchen, however, Tek can't keep up on the grill. Chef Ramsay explodes with rage, and as Tek falls apart. Hopes are again crushed when Amanda severely undercooks the accompanying lobster tail, and ruins the red teams chances of sending out a single entree. Chef Ramsay takes matters into his own hands and sends the Blue Team into the Red kitchen, trying to prevent the homecoming party from turning to a complete disaster. With the Blue Team taking over, they are able to complete dinner service.

After service, Chef Ramsay decides there is no Best of the Worst tonight and that the women, as a team, must nominate two chefs for the chopping block. Suzanne charges Tek with being the weakest person and the rest of the team agrees. As for the second nominee it becomes a fight between Tennielle and Amanda.

At elimination Chef Ramsay asks if the ladies have made their decisions, Tennielle explains the first nominee is Tek, for her obvious poor performance. The second nominee Tennielle says in dismay is herself! However, she is quick to say that she believes Amanda should be up for elimination instead. Chef Ramsay determines Amanda has something left to give, Tennielle has shown signs of improvement, and so eliminates Tek, whose dreams of becoming the Head Chef at Araxi Restaurant and Bar in Whistler, British Columbia, go up in flames.
