Casey's still mad at Cappie for lying about his major, but surprise! His parents, April and Tobias, show up. She reluctantly agress to go camping with them. Over soy-mores, the folks reminisce about the early days, when Cap was growing up home-schooled all over the world. When Casey tries to get them to talk about graduation, they say he should take as long as he wants. She freaks out and goes for a walk, but Cap's mom finds her and says Cappie's lived at KT longer than anywhere else, and Casey is his family now. Especially since she and Tobias are splitting up. Yes, they love eah other, but they're going different ways. And, having agreed to split, they've stopped fighting. Some love stories are short stories, she says. Ash tells Rusty that Katherine will never talk to him again. So he decides to focus on Dana and asks her out Saturday night. But when he runs into Katherine and finds out she's not mad and wants to keep dating, he agrees to take her to the Dobler's '80's party. On Saturday night. Uh-oh. Heath and Beaver tell him to date both girls and just lie, so he tells Dana he told Katherine they were over. She says he did right thing, rather than string her along and dump her later like some big fat jerk. Uh, right. But Ashleigh, who's just watched a dozen '80s rom-coms, tells Rusty to stick with Dana and tell Katherine the truth. When he tries to do that, Katherine makes a great case for them dating and then sadly shuts the door in his regretful face. Rusty finds Ash and says he made a mistake in dumping the only other Greek geek. She revises her advice, bases on other '80s movie plots, and off they go to find Katherine at Dobler's. Evan's still bummed about Rebecca, but Calvin says Rebecca has issues and, FWIW, she really did like him. They decide to steal back the necklace Evan gave her. As they're rifling trough her room, Evan finds the movie ticket from their first date. He can't understand why she saved it. He's still wondering later at Dobler's, so Calvin suggest he clear his head by talking to another girl. Like Katherine, who's looking lonely... and hot. As Evan brings her a drink, Rusty shows up. They tell each other to back off, and then Rusty reveals Rebecca slept with Beaver. Evan punches him. Which is good, even if it hurts, because it helps Rusty realize he really does want Dana! But he's already broken their date! NP -- Ash has one more '80s-movie left. Back at camp, Casey tells Cappie she accepts him as he is, and they'll worry about graduation in May. They kiss, and it's all good. Outside Dana's dorm, Rusty's in a trenchcoat holding up a boombox a la "Say Anything," calling Dana's name. She comes down, and they kiss too. Next night, up in their room, Casey tells Ashleigh she's OK with Cappie as-is -- they aren't a movie; they're a short story. But a really good one. And they hug on that sad reality. Want the whole story?
