Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Episode 7.12 Morris Family

The Extreme Team makes its way to St. Paul, Minnesota to help out the Morris Family. Sandy Morris was a divorced single mother looking for the best daycare for her children, one that included bilingual education. Unsatisfied with options that were out there, Sandy quit her job as a teacher to start her own daycare.

Sandy's daycare has become a staple in the community. She treats all the children as if they were her own. The kids call her "Tia Sandy" which translates to Aunt Sandy in Spanish. The daycare facility operates out of Sandy's 100-year-old house, which is falling apart. If the place isn't repaired, Sandy's place will be shut down. There's only one thing that can stop that from happening: Muppets!

Yes, and Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, the Great Gonzo and Good Morning America's Sam Champion are on hand to help with the makeover. Kermit excavates the place with amphibian precision. Miss Piggy provides the final blow with her patented "HI-YA" karate chop to completely level the place. As Statler and Waldorf mock the proceedings from above, Waldorf says, "Now it's Extreme Makeover: Ham Edition!"

Sam Champion provides coverage of the individual projects being tackled by both designers and Muppets. The kids in the daycare also offer their help in creating wallpaper and choosing new items for the center. After a trip to the Caribbean, the Morris family is welcomed back by a special performance from The Muppets and Paul.

The concert is not only a tribute to the family, but a gift to the volunteers as well. Sandy is touched by the song because the lyrics stress the importance of having someone who believes in you. This is a perfect complement to everything Tia Sandy tries to accomplish with her daycare.

Now it's time to MOVE THAT BUS! We listen as Catricia tells us the old house was not really a place for her mother and brother to live in. The house was more of a daycare, but now it's a home. Here's the breakdown:

- The Study: It's a brand new space for Sandy to keep her logs and run her business.

- The Dining Room: The family can now separate their lives from the daycare, as the place no longer doubles as another room. They even have a dining room table now!

- Catricia's Room: Tracy did a great job with cutouts of dancers on the wall and some nice touches hanging from the ceiling. Ty welcome Catricia into the room by asking to Salsa with her.

- Mychal's Room: Ed went all out and football fan Mychal's couch has a "50-yard" line right down the center. After tucking his bed up, Mychal has room to play a football simulation on his wall. Score!

- The Master Bedroom: Ty made a sanctuary for Sandy with beautiful covered bed and completely remodeled bathroom. Sandy says it'll be a great place for her to relax.

- The Daycare Center: The welcome wall is a great place to say hello in many different languages. The international desk consists of flags from all different countries. Sandy tells us that Paul brought all the different personalities of the children into the center.

Tia Sandy is someone that not only changes kids' lives but helps supports parents within the community. It's a total honor to help someone like her. Even Kermit the Frog confesses, "It makes me feel all warm-blooded." With the completion of a new daycare and a brand new home, we only have one thing left to say: Welcome home, Morris Family. Welcome home.
