Morris and Pratt are taking their boards in a week. Morris thinks they should quiz each other every day at stressful moments, but Pratt insists if they don't know the answers, they'll never know. Hope has given Morris a promise ring, turning him into a magnet for hot women. Moretti tells Gates that his reviews from the ICU have been great, and he's back in the ER, starting today.

Crenshaw and Neela finish a bowel re-section gone awry. Crenshaw sends Neela to find the patient's son Jeremy in the waiting room. Neela approaches a gangly kid, and is surprised to learn he's her new intern Harold. Abby wakes up hung over, baby crying, phone ringing. She asks Luka to catch a stand-by flight right away, but he needs to stay another week to retrofit his father's house for his wheelchair.

Neela introduces Harold to the crew, and they immediately start a pool; first one to verify Harold's age takes the pot. Bevan and his pregnant girlfriend Traci come in after an accident. Bevan doesn't remember it, but Traci knows he fell asleep at the wheel. Crenshaw tells Neela she needs to be a harsh taskmaster with Harold. She's to bring him to his knees and Crenshaw will be watching to make sure she does.

Pratt asks Abby if she's alright, and she claims to have been up all night with Joe. They're slow, so Pratt sends her to take a nap, but she tosses and turns. Gates chats with Bevan, who seems perfectly healthy one minute, and is in V-tac the next. When Bevan comes back around, he admits that he's been working two jobs to save money for the baby, and a couple of nights ago, he took some speed to stay awake. His EKG is showing an abnormality, but the cause is unclear.

Morris tries to get a copy of Harold's driver's license, saying it's for security, but Harold doesn't drive. Still he's a great intern, and Neela feels bad, but continues to ride him hard. While checking out Traci's baby, Harold notices a fluid collection, and suggests that it may be a parvovirus. He goes a little over the top, and Traci starts crying. Abby takes patient Vincent, a personal trainer, who has picked up a few boils at the gym. Morris tries to buy herbal anaphrodisiacs online, to quell his frustrated libido.

Neela brings Dr. Coburn in to consult on Traci, taking credit for Harold's diagnosis. The baby has an infection in its bone marrow and will need an infusion into the umbilical cord. Traci admits that she wasn't sure that she wanted the baby at first, but when Bevan stepped up and took responsibility everything was great. Now she's not so sure. Abby lances Vincent's boils, which smell terrible, making her woozy. Morris is about to take another patient, but when she turns out to be a hot woman, he trades with Abby.

Dr. Kayson comes down to consult with Gates on Bevan. Gates thinks Bevan has rare Brugada Syndrome, but Kayson thinks he's a speed freak and refuses to admit him. Mad about being challenged, Kayson yells at Gates in the hall and Traci overhears. Now she thinks Bevan lied to her, and she doesn't want to see him. Believing Kayson's diagnosis is wrong, Gates asks Moretti to help out, but Moretti tells Gates to get creative.

Vincent's hot daughter Layna shows up to thank Morris, and ask if he's married. Then her hot twin sister Sophia shows up, too. Gates meets Julia Dupree, the new on-call chaplain, who shows up to pray with Traci during her procedure. Pratt lays into Gates for staying with one patient all day - he's not in the ICU anymore. Abby stops by to ask if she can meet with Coburn. She admits she drank last night, but doesn't want to go to a meeting. Coburn tells her it's simple: she can't help if Abby denies that she's an alcoholic.

Moretti tells Abby that he's worried about his son, a troubled college student. Abby's not very supportive, because she's trying to sign over her cases and leave. Everyone else is trying to verify Harold's age, and Abby yells at them to do their jobs. When Harold appears, she demands to know his age, and he finally admits that he's 19. Moretti pulls Gates aside. Does he call canceling Kayson's discharge order getting creative? Alarms sound; Bevan is in V-tac again.

Vincent's hot daughters say good-bye to Morris, sending him into a tizzy. Gates revives Bevan, who would have died on the way home, had he been discharged. Moretti commiserates with Kayson. It would be easier if they didn't have to work with residents, who always think they're right. The worst part - every so often, they're right. Abby stops into an AA meeting on the way home.

Morris calls Hope, and asks Bardelli if he can use the ambulance for a little phone sex with Hope. Traci's baby is fine, but Bevan will need to have surgery to implant a shockbox in his heart. He promises never to take anything stronger than caffeine again. Traci agrees to see him, thanking Julia for the words of Robert Frost: the only way out is always through. Julia tells Gates she's not a nun. Her career is spiritual, but she's a woman who lives in the real world.

Harold makes a call. Maybe becoming a doctor was the wrong choice; he's not sure if he can take a year of days like today. Neela knows he's not okay, and tells him the truth. She's not really mean, it's just that Crenshaw told her she had to be. She thinks he's doing fine, and from now on, she'll be a lot nicer and more supportive. When Crenshaw appears, she tells Harold to play along, and rips him a new one. Harold runs off to do Neela's bidding, and Crenshaw is impressed.
