All hell is breaking loose at Abby's when her babysitter calls to inform that she has to take the week off. Neela offers to watch baby Joe, but it takes some doing to persuade Abby, who's nearing meltdown, to accept her offer. After making love, Pratt is shocked to learn that Bettina was faking it. She admits it's hard to talk about, and it's just easier to lie. Moretti's at a conference so Morris and Pratt are in charge of the ER.

High school wrestling star Finn Andrews arrives in the ER, having passed out after two days of vomiting and diarrhea. He and his Mom think he just has a stomach virus. Gates makes some calls, trying to get Joshua into a medical trial for his rare condition, but all programs are full up. The doorbell rings, and Gates is surprised to see Sarah, who's run away to live with him. She wants to come to work so they can talk, but Gates tells her to stay put.

Morris receives terrible news, but doesn't tell anyone what's going on. Pratt examines Finn, who complains that his chest feels funny, and promptly goes into V-Tach. Pratt brings him back, as Morris runs to help two wounded auxiliary cops, Lauren and Tim. Morris tells Abby to work with Grady, insisting that he's ready. Lauren and Tim explain they don't wear guns and vests as auxiliaries and are trained to turn away from anyone with a gun. But a woman was being carjacked, and they had to step in.

Finn has a collapsed lung, and Grady offers to insert the tube, but contaminates the instrument tray. Gates lies to Joshua and his Mom about the medical trial, saying Joshua can start soon. When Tim writhes in pain, Abby takes over the intubation. Morris tells Lauren that she has a small liver hematoma and won't need surgery, then checks on Tim - the intubation still isn't right. Abby thinks he needs a second tube, but Grady calls it correctly, clearing the first tube.

Pratt tells Finn that his pancreas is inflamed, causing his calcium level to drop, thus his heart stopped. Pancreatitis is rare in someone so young, and is often associated with excessive alcohol use. Finn insists he doesn't drink, so Pratt calls radiology to do an ultrasound. Abby confronts Grady on his erratic behavior, and he admits she makes him nervous. She orders him to get on his game, because she doesn't want to have to mollycoddle him.

While Abby and Dubenko try to figure why Lauren has passed out, Morris yells at her boss, Sergeant O'Malley for putting auxiliaries in the field with no vests. He claims that O'Malley doesn't support her troops, but she says they're like her kids. Lauren comes to, and the team realizes that she has a condition where her blood pressure drops when stuck with a needle. Morris bungled it.

The ultrasound reveals that Finn has a large cyst blocking a duct, and Pratt wants him prepped for surgery immediately. Bettina volunteers to use a new technique to drain the cyst without surgery, but Pratt wants to know if he can trust her, since she's lied about other things. Bettina admits she has some issues, but they don't pertain to her work, and Pratt relents, allowing her to do the procedure.

Lichtman brings in the carjacker, who's been shot and is fighting with the cops. Seeing that Lichtman has taken a gash to the face, Sam pulls him out of the fray. Morris takes a softer tone with O'Malley, who admits the auxiliary program is in its infancy, and this should never have happened. She found Tim when he was homeless and addicted to meth, so she took him under her wing. Cops from the Mayor's office want an update, just as Lauren is wheeled by, in trouble again from an expanding hematoma.

Grady continues to bungle nervously, and Abby sends him away, but only he knows the key to Lauren's condition - coagulopathy. Sam pulls the curtain to nurse Lichtman with a kiss, but Gates interrupts to ask a hypothetical question. What if a kid ran away across state lines? Sam tells Gates to send Sarah home. Gates asks Dubenko to help get Joshua in the trail, following him to Lauren. Gates interjects - there's a simple blood test that takes ten minutes - she may not need surgery.

A fight breaks out between a cop and the carjacker. When Grady steps in between then, he winds up with a black eye. Neela remains patient as baby Joe cries all day long. The OR's ready, but Gates demonstrates that Lauren has stopped bleeding and they've given her the ability to clot - no surgery. Although Bettina's procedure works and the wrestler is out of the woods, she wonders how a kid gets pancreatitis. Pratt notices burns on his knuckles.

Tim's alarms start ringing. Morris fumbles, Abby wants to cut him to remove clots. Morris wields the scalpel, preparing to do the procedure, but starts crying and has to leave. Dubenko visits Neela offering wheat grass juice and yoga postures. Joe continues bawling, as Dubenko takes a call, getting Joshua into the trial. Morris works on Tim, but Abby insists that they call it - Tim's dead.

Pratt confronts Finn - he's bulimic, that's why he has pancreatitis. Finn thinks he can handle it, but Pratt wants him to get counseling and talk to his parents. Gates tells Joshua that he's in the trial, but he doesn't want to be a guinea pig. His mm explains that sometimes you have to do things you don't want, so you get what you want in the end. Pratt reminds Bettina that he's jumped through a lot of hoops for her, and they'll approach her problem together, starting with dinner tonight.

Dubenko asks Neela to forgive him for what happened at the wedding. He confused his fondness for her with something else. They turn around to see Joe walk for the first time - Abby will be pissed she missed it - but she's comforting O'Malley. Gates tells Sarah he's taking her back to her grandparents. Grady asks Abby out, so she shows him her wedding ring, reminding him to remember the details. She finds Morris in the alley. His dad died, and they had bad relationship - Morris didn't even know his Dad was sick. Although Abby's sure his father was proud of him, Morris is convinced his father is still laughing at him.
