Ben took a little time out of his day to flirt with Sam. He asked her if there was anything he could help her with and she told him that he could help her move into her new apartment. He agreed, only if a meal came with the deal.

Gates brought Sarah along to shadow him while he was at work. The rest of the ER staff liked having her around. When Sarah saw Neela, she told her that her mom called her a whore. Neela was appalled and later told Abby about it. Abby just laughed and said it could have been worst.

Weaver was offered a job for a medical segment at a Miami news station. Weaver didn't want to take the job, though Paula thought it was a great opportunity. When she told Kovac about the job offer, he thought she should take it. If she left, it would make his job easier when it came to dealing with the hospital's budget. He wanted to fire her.

Sam was surprised to see her Grandma Gracie came by from Dallas. Sam was also surprised to hear her Grandma had been kicked out of her nursing home for growing marijuana. Gracie was in town to give her an update on her family. Sam wasn't interested in hearing about her mother or her mother's new husband.

Weaver had an argument with one of her patients who refused to have the doctor's amputate a couple of her toes due to an infection. Weaver later saw the woman outside waiting for a bus. When talking to her, Weaver understood the woman's angst. She said she was tired of losing things, her house, her husband, her city and now the use of her feet. Weaver quickly found out the woman was from New Orleans.

Sam couldn't believe what she was hearing when Morris accused her son of stealing his credit card number and buying expensive electronics with it. When Morris pointed out the expensive necklace Sam was wearing, Sam began to realize Morris' accusations were true.

The doctors worked hard to save a man complaining of chest pains. The man had a deadly reaction to a prescription drug. The man's wife said they didn't have a real doctor and that her husband got the prescription drug from the church. Pratt and Hope quickly realized that they were responsible for dispensing the drug to the patient when they donated the meds to the church. The man ended up dying on the table.

Weaver helped assist on the surgery for her patient's toes. During a conversation with the surgeon, she quickly found out the hospital was recently able to purchase a million dollar machine. She realized that her job was cut so the hospital could buy new equipment for the surgical staff. She later found out the woman had to have her entire foot amputated, Weaver talked to afterwards and told her to be thankful to be alive.

Alex showed up after school and was greeted by his very disappointed grandma. Morris interrupted to accuse him of stealing his credit card number. Alex admitted the crime and apologized to Morris and his grandma. Alex ran away when Morris told him he would be paid back in installments.

Meg came by and surprised both Gates and Sarah. As she was talking to Gates, she kept looking over her shoulder. Gates knew that Meg was really there to look for Neela. Gates immediately called Meg out for being drunk and she flipped out and stared yelling at Neela. Gates grabbed Meg and took her away from Neela and Sarah.

Kovac was losing a patient and doing everything he can to save him. Weaver came into the ER hoping to talk to Kovac about the recent million-dollar hospital purchase. When she noticed that Kovac was losing the patient, she stepped in and saved the man's life. A stubborn Kovac watched Weaver perform.

While Gates was dealing with an erratic Meg, Neela confronted Sarah outside the hospital. Sarah told Neela she hated her mother for behaving way she did. Neela tried to console Sarah, but Sarah told her to find a new man because Gates would always come back to her and her mother.

Ben helped Sam unload the rest of her furniture. When he mentioned dinner, she completely spaced out on their agreement. He told her he had a better idea and pulled her in for a kiss.

Pratt confessed to Kovac about giving away the medicine to the church. Kovac wanted to know if Pratt was the only one involved with the donation, Pratt protected Hope and took all the blame. Kovac told Pratt he would deal with Angela and the hospital board and everything show be fine.

Kovac found Weaver and stopped her from leaving to let her know he really didn't want to fire her and he would find budget cuts elsewhere. She said it was too late, she had already decided to resign and take the job in Miami. She said she felt too comfortable in Chicago and the ER and she was ready to move forward.
