ER Episode 13.01 Bloodline

Dr. Weaver entered the ER and was surprised at all of the bloodshed and chaos. She began to immediately help victims and the staff. She walked in to see how Jerry was doing on the operating table and offered to get the doctors more supplies. As she exited, she noticed Abby lying on the floor and Kovac strapped to a gurney, helplessly watching from a supply room. Weaver got help and Abby and Kovac each checked out okay. Abby was taken to the O.B. ward.

At the O.B. ward, Abby's doctor wanted to prep her for a C-section. Abby wasn't ready to give birth, but her doctor assured her it was best for her and her baby. Meanwhile, the doctors continued to save Jerry while monitoring Kovac, who was having trouble breathing since his ordeal.

Sam had convinced Steve, Hendrix and Mary to pull over so she could get some food for her son. When Sam used the bathroom at the gas station, she also left a note in the sink explaining that she had been kidnapped. Hendrix found the note and told Sam if she pulled a stunt like that again, he would take it out on her son. They drove away and were later pulled over by a cop. While the cop was writing out a ticket for reckless driving, Hendrix drove away, causing a pursuit with the cop car. When the cop car went off the road, it flipped over a parked tractor and crashed. Hendrix continued to drive.

Kovac visited Abby in the maternity ward. She told him how scared she was of delivering the baby prematurely. They joked a bit about naming the baby when all of sudden, Abby felt her water broke — but Kovac noticed it was blood. She was rushed into the O.R. to deliver the baby. She was scared, but Kovac was by her side.

Hendrix, Mary and Steve pulled over at an abandoned warehouse and began arguing about what their next move should be. Sam and her son watched as the group began shouting and pushing one another around. Steve took Mary and Hendrix inside the abandoned warehouse and Sam thought it was perfect timing to look for the car keys or a gun. Sam and her son heard gunshots and then Steve came out of the warehouse alone, asking if they wanted to go get food.

Abby was concerned as she went into surgery. She told Kovac and her doctor that she wanted to be awake throughout the surgery. The doctor was worried because there was severe bruising around the baby from when Abby fell. They were able to perform the C-section and grab Abby's baby boy from her womb. As they performed CPR on the newborn, the doctors were concerned that Abby was losing too much blood. Meanwhile, Neela scrubbed in to assist with trying to save Jerry. After some tense moments, Jerry re-emerged with a steady pulse. The doctors were relieved.

Steve came back to talk to Sam and he assured her that he wanted to be a family again. Sam told Steve that this dark side was always present in him, but only now was he showing his true colors. Steve began to kiss Sam and tell her how badly he wanted his family back. He then began to have sex with her. Sam lay there passively, crying and let Steve rape her.

Abby was still losing blood and the doctors feared she would have to have a hysterectomy. Meanwhile, Kovac was in NICU with their infant boy who needed immediate instant care. Weaver came by to assure Kovac that everything was going to be okay, and told him to think good thoughts about his son's health.

Weaver encouraged Kovac to go be by Abby's side. When he arrived to see Abby, she asked him if one baby was going to be enough for them. Kovac didn't understand where Abby was going with the conversation, but then she explained that her uterus wouldn't stop bleeding so they'd had to perform a hysterectomy. Kovac held her and then showed her a video from his cell phone of their baby boy. Abby decided on the name Joseph, after her father's favorite boxer, Joe Frazier.

Kovac got a moment alone in the bathroom and began crying. He held his head in his hands as he sobbed. Then he looked in the bathroom mirror and took the garbage can and hurled it at the mirror. Glass shattered everywhere on the floor.

Sam noticed that Steve was out cold in a dead sleep. She took her chance and slowly unwrapped his arms from around her waist and returned to the truck where their son was sleeping. She came back to Steve and managed to slip his gun out of his hands and shot him, repeatedly.
