A seemingly successful software CEO is found dead on a Manhattan sidewalk having mysteriously bled out from every orifice of his body. Mac and the CSI team discover the victim was poisoned and search for a mysterious woman who was with the victim shortly before his death. Turns out, she met the victim at a sploshing party (sensual food party) and has also been poisoned. Stella finds out that the CEO had lost all of his money, as well as his employees' pension funds. One employee, so devastated by financial ruin, exacted his revenge and poisoned his boss.
Hawkes, volunteering for the Central Park medical unit, feels enormously guilty about both deaths. He encountered both victims on the day of their death and wrote them off because they'd been drinking. Mac senses Hawkes is keeping something from him, but doesn't press him. Everyone is shocked when Hawkes finally reveals that he, like the killer, has lost everything; he doesn't like the person he's turned in to because of financial despair. Both Stella and Mac rally to support him.
