A young boy is viciously murdered during soccer practice, his heart ripped out of his chest just like Jimmy's was.

In a flashback, a young Waruu bullies Koen with a group of older indigenous boys, telling him their father loved Waruu most and calling Koen's mother "a white whore."

Koen West (Hunter Page-Lochard) visits Waruu's mother, his Aunty Linda (Deborah Mailman), to ask why Jimmy (Jack Charles) chose him to be the next cleverman instead of Waruu. When Koen hugs Linda hello, he sees visions of her in a hospital and also injecting heroin. She's impressed by his abilities and admits that she is dying from cancer. Linda explains to Koen that she has no idea why Jimmy did anything he did.

Nerida (Jada Alberts) tries to comfort Waruu (Rob Collins) as he broods over being denied the status of cleverman. Waruu asks Alinta to fetch his phone for him and, curious, Alinta (Tamala Shelton) calls Belinda Frosche (Leeanna Walsman), hanging up without a word after having her worst fears nearly confirmed by Belinda's flirtatious hello.

Djukara (Tysan Towney) violates prison protocol by exercising in his cell. When guards enter the cell to discipline him he attacks them, but is eventually overpowered.

An old neighbor brings Latani (Rarriwuy Hick) food in the abandoned apartment and tells Latani that she sympathizes and won't turn her in.

Jarrod Slade (Iain Glen) and his wife, Charlotte (Frances O'Connor), a humanitarian doctor who provides free medical care to hairies at a clinic in The Zone, are disappointed by the latest in a long series of failed attempts to conceive a child despite cutting edge fertility treatment.

A corrupt guard brings Frankie (Rhondda Findleton) a line-up of female hairy prisoners to choose from. Araluen (Tasma Walton) volunteers herself without knowing what she will be doing, and Frankie accepts her after a brief inspection. The guard kills the others while Frankie sedates Araluen and takes her away.

Waruu and Minister Matthews (Andrew McFarlane) debate hairy policy live on Slade's network. Slade breaks the story of the young boy's murder mid-broadcast, cutting to Belinda at the scene on the soccer field, who links the attack with Jimmy's killing and heavily implies hairies are to blame for both. After the broadcast Waruu correctly accuses Slade and Matthews of setting him up. Afterwards he calls Belinda, whom he knows must have shared the details of Jimmy's death with Slade, and tells her to go to hell.

The undead girl Jimmy animated with a spirit, now being held in a secret lab, calls out to Koen psychically.

Latani joins the helpful old lady, Virgil (Lynette Curran), in her apartment. Virgil warns Latani that her family will not be able to come back for her, and that if she stays in hiding at the scene of the raid she'll eventually be caught, but offers to help disguise her.

Boondee (Tony Briggs) visits Djukara, who is disgusted by his father's cooperation with the guards and blames Boondee for Jirra's death.

Slade sends Charlotte flowers and a note with the name of a fertility clinic, asking her to try to conceive one last time. She calls him and asks him not to ask her again. He claims he's "building an ark" for the two of them.

A sadistic guard decides to break Djukara's rebellious spirit by using his father as a whipping boy, electrocuting Boondee until Djukara begs for mercy and submits. Afterward the guards shave Djukara as further punishment.

Waruu and Harry (Isaac Drandic) plan a break-in to the prison, but disagree over its primary objective. Harry wants to liberate prisoners, while Waruu is mainly concerned with obtaining footage to document the human rights abuses Matthews and the CA are denying.

Latani puts on her new disguise and strikes out into the world.

Koen is wracked by the disembodied voice of the spirit-girl calling out to him and suddenly overcome with an uncontrollable urge to find her. Blair (Ryan Corr) drives him to a seemingly random building at Koen's direction. Koen leads them to an unmarked office, where they find a single surprised researcher, who tells them to get out. Koen grabs the researcher violently and demands to know where the spirit-girl is being kept. He's pointed to a vault in the back of the room, which he opens to find the girl strapped down to a table for use in experiments.

Koen and Blair free the spirit-girl, lock the researcher in the vault, and flee with the girl as alarms blare.
