Both at-home teams are training their hardest, wanting to prove they can come back to the ranch. The Yellow and Blue Teams are both determined to have the highest weight loss percentage in order to get back in the game.

Ali tells the teams on the ranch that it is student-teacher week. Meaning, each contestant will play either the student or teacher to the their teammate. The teacher's job is to remember everything they learned from their trainer and pass it to their student because the next time the student sees Bob and Jillian will be at the weigh-in. The students will be the ones weighing in and representing their teams.

Ali reveals a giant bucket of candy. Each team will choose a player to be faced with the temptation of eating the most candy, because the winning team gets to determine which other teams will play teacher and student for the rest of the week. In the end, the Pink Team wins, but all they have to do is eat two pieces of candy for a total of 10 calories.

Both Bob and Jillian are noticing a huge chip on Migdalia's shoulder. Jillian decides to be the one to confront her in the gym. Migdalia refuses to let Jillian in, but it's obvious to Jillian that Migdalia doesn't like being separated from her mother during the student/teacher week. Jillian thinks Migdalia is tough enough to walk out of the gym if they push her any further.

Jillian finally pushes Migdalia to her limits and just as predicted, Migdalia declares she's done. She walks out the door and Jillian chases after her and tells her to be brave and face her problems. Migdalia holds back tears and Jillian turns to her mother for help. Jillian needs both women to concentrate on their inner selves.

After Migdalia retreats to her room to pack, Jillian turns to Bob and says both women are refusing to open up to her. Bob follows Miggy up to her room to talk her into staying on the ranch. After plenty of cursing, Bob gets Migdalia to say she'll stay on the ranch, but she tells Bob he can't try to change the Green Team.

Curtis Stone visits the ranch and shows the "teachers" a lesson on portion size when it comes to eating. Each player is stunned with how many calories a real portion size is and now it is up to the "teachers" to show their "students" what Curtis has taught them, including how to prepare the delicious pasta meal he made for them.

Owning up to her promise, Miggy has a personal talk with her daughter to encourage her to open up more about her feelings. Miggy acknowledges that both women are not good at sharing their emotions, but maybe it is time they try. Migdalia begins to cry while talking to her mother.

The teams all arrive by school bus at their next challenge location. Ali is there to meet them, next to color-coded spools with rolls of ribbon attached. Ali tells the players that the "teacher" will unravel 1,000 feet of ribbon through an obstacle course playground. "Students" will then draw which team's ribbon they will unravel. The team who wins the challenge also wins immunity and the ability to change the roles of the teams.

After the "teachers" are done unraveling their ribbon, Ali tells the "students" that they will be raveling up their own colored ribbon, while blindfolded, and it is up to the "teachers" to guide them through the playground. The challenge is all about communication. In the end, the Grey Team wins the challenge.

The "teachers" participate in their last-chance workout with the trainers. They have to keep in mind that what they learn during this workout, they have to pass to their "students." Each "teacher" also has to keep in mind that the Grey Team gets to decide at the weigh-in, which student/teacher role will be reversed.

Now it's time for the "teacher" to take their "students" to the gym for the last-chance workout. The "teachers" really push their "students" based on what they've learned from Bob and Jillian.

Before the weigh-in can begin, Ali asks the Grey Team which team they will be swapping the teacher/student roles with. The Grey Team says it will be the White Team. Koli says he chose Michael because he still doesn't feel Michael has shown the rest of the players he really wants to be on the ranch.

The Red Team weighs in and since Lance's weight loss is the only one that matters, they celebrate his 12-pound weight loss. Melissa's weight loss is only a pound and Jillian knows Melissa has thrown herself off for the second week in a row. Jillian is furious and offended that Melissa is lying to everybody.

The White Team falls below the yellow line and now the rest of the players have to decide whom to eliminate: Maria or Michael. Maria pleads to keep Michael on the ranch and most of the teams vote to eliminate her. Maria is thankful for the opportunity and leaves the ranch with her head held high.
