Last week's episode featured Season 15's first elimination with the White Team's loss of Fernanda. Two weeks having the losing team has Coach Jillian chomping at the bit - the White Team is in for a beating this week!

Coach Bob pulls his team member Matt aside to see where he's at emotionally and mentally. Matt chose to be at the Biggest Loser ranch instead of his wedding this weekend. Though he's struggling with feelings of guilt and selfishness, Bob encourages Matt, saying he was given this second chance at life for a reason.

The first gym day provides an extra twist this week, thanks to Alison. Gym equipment must be "purchased" with Biggest Loser bucks, meaning teams will only have access to certain types of equipment. Though all teams started with 500 BL bucks, the Red Team left feeling cheated. The Blue Team bought rowers, jump ropes, weights and kettle bells. The White Team acquired treadmills and resistance bands and used their purchased mystery box "free trade" to steal the Red Team's boxing equipment, leaving Dolvett's team with tires, medicine balls and bags of flour and sugar. Needless to say, the coaches aren't happy with the limited equipment, but they will work with what they've got.

During the first workout, Tanya is clearly lagging behind and distracted from training. Dolvett probes into Tanya's past to discover what's holding her back. Tanya confesses residual guilt for gaining 125 pounds during her pregnancy, leading her newborn daughter's health to always be at risk. Her own mother's drug addiction and physical abuse and her extended family's unwillingness to rescue her brought about a self-destructive cycle. Dolvett challenges Tanya to write one letter to her mom and one letter to her family expressing her feelings and forgiveness, a good first step towards releasing her pent-up anger.

Motivation is lacking for all the teams, so each contestant video chats with their families. Most are reminded of all the events they're missing out on, but they all receive encouragement to keep fighting towards a healthier life. Craig's wife reveals he's going to be a dad to a baby girl. Now, he's even more driven to lose the weight.

Going into the weigh-in, everyone's nerves are on edge. Lack of equipment could prove disastrous for the contestants. Bob is unhappy with his team's low combined result: 27 pounds lost. Tumi majorly contributes to the White Team's overall victory by losing 10 pounds. The Red Team falls into last place with a total loss of 20 pounds. Despite her mental triumphs, Tanya lost zero pounds, putting her up for elimination. However, Dolvett spends his one save on Tanya! He saw her hard work and personal progress this week, even if the scale didn't reflect it.
