The Bachelorette Episode 9.04 Episode 904

Des and her 13 remaining men are headed to Atlantic City for The Bachelorette's Mr. America Competition and one special date provides a firsthand look at the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.

The Jersey Shore: Brad scores the first one-on-one date which begins on the famous Atlantic City boardwalk. He and Des hit the rides, play some games and dig in to some salt water taffy. They also sniff out some chocolate-covered pretzels. They hit the beach to have a chat in front of an amazing sand castle. Their dinner conversation is a little rocky which has Des conflicted. She heads up to the top of a lighthouse where she lets Brad knows that she can't give him a rose tonight. She sends this nice guy bachelor back home to his son.

Here He is...Mr. America: Brooks, Bryden, Zack K, Kasey, Drew, Juan Pablo, Zak W, Mikey, Ben, Michael and Chris head out for the group date. They meet up with Miss America Mallory Hagan. That's because these eight men will be competing in The Bachelorette's Mr. America Pageant. They prep for the interview, talent contest and, of course, swimsuit competition.

And the Winner Is...: In the talent portion of the contest, Kasey nails his tap routine. Mikey does a little striptease while Brooks smashes his ukulele onstage. Bryden does some swell pelvic thrusts in front of the mayor of Atlantic City. Zak W sings a nice song. All the others do their best to bring it all home in the swimsuit competition. At the end of the pageant, Brooks is second runner-up while Zak W is first runner-up. Winning the title of The Bachelorette's Mr. America is Kasey!

More Ben Drama: Chris reveals that he writes poetry in the final portion of the group date. He reads Des a little something he wrote just for her. It scores him a nice kiss. The smooch was shared in private. Ben, on the other hand, likes to flaunt his time with Desiree. This ticks off the other men. Des, on the other hand, sees Ben as possible marriage material. Zak W plays the remainder of the song he did at the pageant. This is probably why Desiree gives him the group date rose.

A Special Date: James scores the second one-on-one date that begins with a tour of the damage Hurricane Sandy did to the Jersey Shore. The destruction that's seen is overwhelming. Des and James meet a couple, Manny and Jan, from Seaside Heights who weathered the storm that forced them to gut their home. Their first night in a Red Cross shelter was on their 38th wedding anniversary. Desiree and James agree that they should give up the romantic date they had planned and let the couple go in their place. The feeling they get from doing this is overwhelming as limo pulls away with the grateful Manny and Jan inside.

Pizza Date: While the folks from Seaside Heights enjoy their belated anniversary date in Atlantic City, Desiree and James chow down on pizza and beer at a far less romantic restaurant. The evening takes a turn when James admits that he once cheated on an old girlfriend. He hopes Desiree believes that he'll never do something like that again. In other news, Manny and Jan receive the gift of a restored photo album from their wedding. Des and James join them to take a look at the pictures. Manny and Jan head out to share a dance as Darius Rucker performs a private concert just for them. As for James, Desiree appreciates his honesty. That's why he gets a rose.

Should I Stay or Should I Go: Michael rattles off a list of reasons why he likes Des. The two of them share a nice kiss. Chris also gets a lip-lock to prove that he's not in the friend zone. Bryden needs some time with Desiree so he can be sure of his feelings for her. The two of them have a serious chat. Des hopes he will want to stick around.

The Rose Ceremony: Brad has already been sent home, while James and Zak W are safe. Here's a list of all the men receiving a rose from Desiree:
