Long Hair, Don't Care: TWINS TAKE EXPRESS PASS

In Surabaya, Indonesia, twins Natalie & Nadiya vaulted into first place to win the Express Pass while on and off dating couple Amy & Daniel couldn't overcome taxi woes becoming the second team eliminated from the Race.

THEIR OWN RACE

Departing the Pit Stop in first place at 5:35am, dating divorcees Abbie & Ryan, the only team with a chance to win $2 million, ripped open their clue instructing them to fly across the South China Sea to the city of Surabaya, Indonesia. When they landed, they had to travel over the Suramadu Bridge and make their way to Alun Alun Stadium. A note at the bottom of the clue informed teams that the winner of this leg would receive the Express Pass. At Pudong International Airport, nine of the ten teams determined that the fastest flight to Surabaya, Indonesia connected through Jakarta on Garuda Airlines. Trying to break away from the pack, married monster truckers Rob & Kelley found a flight on Cathay Pacific that connected through Hong Kong, leaving Pudong Airport almost two hours earlier than the Garuda Airlines flight. Seeing all of the other teams together getting tickets on the Garuda flight, monster truckers Rob commented, "We're running our own race." However, sneaking off to board their Cathay Pacific flight, the monster truckers failed to realize they would have a four-hour layover in Hong Kong meaning they would be the last to arrive in Surabaya. LONG HAIR, DON'T CARE Landing in Jakarta, the nine teams on the Garuda Airlines flight ran to the ticket counters trying to find a faster connection to Surabaya. Rock star and lawyer James & Abba reached the counter first and got the last two tickets on a flight that departed Jakarta over an hour earlier than the scheduled flight with the other eight teams. Chippendale Jaymes dubbed James & Abba, "Long hair, don't care", but Chippendale James joked, "We're gonna have to call them, Long Hair, Do Care." Now with an hour lead on everyone, Abba said, "Count our blessings one at a time." Meanwhile, monster truckers Rob & Kelley waited out their four-hour layover in Hong Kong alone. Rob commented, "We don't know if we're in the lead or if we're in the back, but we're gonna run our race. " Finally boarding the connecting flight to Surabaya, a confident Rob added, "I'm not concerned at all. Personally, I think that we're in the lead right now."

WELCOME TO SURABAYA

Landing in Surabaya in first place, rock star and lawyer James & Abba took a taxi across the Suramadu Bridge, reached the closed gates of the Alun Alun Stadium that wouldn't open until 8:00am the next morning, and took the first of ten whips hanging there to secure the earliest bull run. With Amy & Daniel, Ryan & Abbie, and Jaymes & James taking the next three numbered whips, a budding friendship and alliance, Trey & Lexi and Natalie & Nadiya, grabbed the fifth and sixth whips. The two teams agreed to help each other if they could to propel both teams to the front of the pack. Once Josh & Brent, Caitlin & Brittany, and Gary & Will took the next three numbered whips, only one remained, now reserved for Rob & Kelley. Once the monster truckers finally landed in Surabaya and reached the stadium, Rob, surprised to see they were the last to arrive, quickly rationalized, "We like to be the last team. It matters who's first on the mat. We're just gliding under the radar."

RACING WITH THE BULLS

With the Express Pass up for grabs, the gate of Alun Alun Stadium opened up at 8:00am the following morning as teams prepared themselves to take part in Karapan Sapi, the traditional Maduran sport of bull racing. In the order they arrived at the stadium, teams had to hop on a motorcycle with a professional driver and take part in the exhibition bull racing tradition racing against the champion bulls to the finish line. As the other nine teams watched, James & Abba put on helmets and each got onto the back of a motorcycle behind a professional driver. When the locals let the bulls loose, the powerful animals bolted down the field with a rider balanced precariously between them as James & Abba's motorcycles struggled to keep up. A shocked Lexi later said, "The bulls outran the mopeds. They just took off. It was incredible." Reaching the end of the field after the bulls, James & Abba ripped open their clue instructing them to make their way to Genteng Kali Bridge.

PARTY TIME

While teams continued to race with bulls, rock star and lawyer James & Abba reached the Genteng Kali Bridge in first place to find a Roadblock. In it, one team member had to operate a pedal-powered amusement ride called an odong-odong and give four children a ride. As teams pedaled the portable machine, they had to make eight pieces of balloon art for the children. Running into the park, rock star James chose four children and placed them in the seats on an odong-odong before jumping on the back of the crazy contraption. As he began pedaling causing the children's seats to sway and move, James started blowing balloons, popping more than successfully filled. With the arrival of Amy, Lexi, Nadiya, and Jaymes, rock star James lost ground and the lead while the other three racers jumped ahead. On the ability to blow up balloons while powering the odong-odong, Lexi commented, "I've always been a multi-tasker. Meanwhile, Chippendales Jaymes enjoyed entertaining the delighted children, later saying, "I'm actually a big kid person. I have so much fun with kids." Snowboarding amputee Amy added, "The pedaling, I had no challenge with. I was just focused on making these poodles." Lexi, Amy, and even twin Nadiya finished their eight balloons ahead of rock star James and ripped open the next clue instructing them to travel to Wijaya Motors. Once rock star James finally put the finishing touches on a balloon animal in fourth place just ahead of Chippendale Jaymes, he said in the taxi, "Foiled by the balloons, man!"

BALLOON MELTDOWN

With Abbie and Josh creating balloon magic quickly, the last three teams to arrive at the Roadblock, substitute teacher Will, monster trucker Rob, and Caitlin battled each other to pull out of last place. From the beginning, it became apparent that Will had no aptitude for twisting and shaping balloons into any recognizable object. Gary told Will, "Just look at the balloon, not everybody else!" However, for whatever reason, the stress of the moment got to Will as he began sweating and shaking. Each balloon popping caused him to grimace and shout in frustration. Seeing Caitlin and Rob both finish only added to the mounting pressure for the diminutive teacher. Will later said, "I felt like the whole world was on my shoulders. I was having a meltdown." Finally, Gary managed to calm Will down by telling him to relax and take a deep breath. Getting his nerves in control, Will successfully created eight balloon animals, but the substitute teachers had a lot of ground to make up on the other teams. On what should've been a fun task, Will commented, "This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my entire life."

A FISHY DETOUR

Arriving at Wijaya Motors within moments of each other in first and second place, dating couple Trey & Lexi and twins Natalie & Nadiya ripped open their clues to find a Detour with the choice of Ice By the Pound or Fish By the Barrel. Ice By the Pound required teams to deliver ten 65-pound blocks of ice. First they had to get ice from a giant icemaker, slide it through the factory, and deliver it to a truck. Once they arrived at Pasar Pabean Market, they had to use a special cart called a becak to deliver their cargo to a stall. Fish By the Barrel also required teams to go to Pasar Pabean Market and sort through thousands of assorted fresh fish using an old school method of working with their hands. Once they were properly stocked, they had to set up a stall and meet the vendor's approval to receive their clue. As twins Natalie & Nadiya headed to sort fish and set up a stall, dating couple Trey & Lexi decided to haul ice to the market. Using a pair of metal hooks, Lexi dug into each side of the long pieces of ice to slide them through factory and out a small shoot where Trey stood waiting to catch them wearing large rubber gloves to protect himself from the freezing cold cargo. With Trey then carrying each heavy piece to the delivery truck, Lexi told him, "I'm so glad you're our muscles in this." After delivering ten blocks of ice to the truck, the dating couple jumped in and rode to the market, hoping to win the Express Pass.

EXCELLENT EXPRESS PASS

While Trey & Lexi began unloading ice at Pasar Pabean Market, twins Natalie & Nadiya used their muscles to carry two large barrels of fish into the marketplace and started to set up a stall. As Natalie used a metal tool to crush ice for the bed of the stall, Nadiya began digging into the barrel to sort the many types of fish they needed to stack and display of the pungent product. Slowly, the twins filled trays and trays of fish, stacking them in the correct order, until their stall was complete, finishing just ahead of dating couple Trey & Lexi who unloaded their last piece of ice at the other end of the fish market. After completing their sides of the Detour, both teams ripped open their clue instructing them to search the alleyways of the bustling market on foot for the next Pit Stop. In a tight race, both teams navigated through the congested market trying to find Phil, dodging vendors and patrons along the way. Bursting through an exit to see Phil standing in the sunlight, twins Natalie & Nadiya stepped on the mat in first place to claim the Express Pass with dating couple Trey & Lexi finishing close behind. On their big win, Nadiya commented, "It feels so good that we set our goal and we reached it today." Being gracious losers, Trey & Lexi added, "If somebody else was gonna get it [Express Pass], we're super glad it was them. We like them a lot."

LOST IN INDONESIA

With Chippendales Jaymes & James, dating divorcees Abbie & Ryan, goat farmers Josh & Brent, rock star and lawyer James & Abba, and best friends Caitlin & Brittany all delivering ice to finish 3rd through 7th place, two teams, married monster truckers Rob & Kelley and on and off dating couple Amy & Daniel had taxis who couldn't find Wijaya Motor. As the two taxis kept driving around town wasting precious time, both teams felt their chances at a million dollars slowly slipping away. Getting out at a Wijaya Brothers and not seeing a clue, Daniel said, "This is heartbreaking." Meanwhile Rob barked at his taxi driver, "You're just driving. You don't know!" When his driver jumped out and disappeared for a minute, Rob continued to complain, but the driver soon returned and insisted he now knew where to go. At the same moment, Amy & Daniel decided to switch taxis hoping their new driver could find Wijaya Motor. A disappointed Amy sighed, "I'm not ready for this to be over yet."

ONE LAST CHANCE

Pulling up to Wijaya Motor, married monster truckers Rob & Kelley were shocked to see substitute teachers Gary & Will arriving at the same time. With both teams choosing to deliver ice, the married monster truckers outdueled the substitute teachers every step of the way from carrying ice to the factory to hauling the ice on a becak to the market. Unaware that Amy & Daniel, who finally found Wijaya Motors, were behind them, Gary & Will believed they were in last place. Will said, "I feel bad. I took too long on the balloons." After the substitute teachers spilled their becak sending ice sprawling on the ground, Gary & Will knew they couldn't beat Rob & Kelley who finished in eight place. Completely deflated, Gary & Will stacked their ice slowly, not realizing that Amy & Daniel just arrived at the market with their delivery of ice. Slowly searching through the market for Phil, Gary told Will, "Take the smell in. We'll never be here again. I'm not running." Will added, "I can't make a balloon and our dreams are shattered." Walking up to the mat, the stunned Gary & Will cheered with wild abandon when Phil told them they were in ninth place. Will even promised, "We're going all the way now!" Stepping on the mat in last place, Amy & Daniel received the bad news from Phil that they were eliminated from the Race. In tears, Amy told Phil, "It's heartbreaking because it's just been so awesome." She later added, "We're feeling pretty disappointed right now. We just want to keep going. The stars just didn't aligned today for us." Daniel added, "Amy's just an incredible woman. And we were right up front. We really did have the potential to win the thing."
